FAQ

Hello!  Here are some questions I get asked the frequently.  Don’t see your question here?  Hit me up on Twitter or send me an email at hello@aconstanttraveler.com.

  • What countries have you been to?

In no particular order: USA (origin), Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brasil, South Africa, Tanzania, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, England, Wales, Germany, France, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Belgium, Switzerland, and Antarctica.

  • What is your favorite place to visit?

I loved Italy! Since I was a young kid, I have been fascinated by ancient Greek and Roman societies.  Italian food is also my favorite type of cuisine.  I also really enjoyed living in Italy because I was able to apply what I learned in my courses to the places I saw everyday.

  • Where would you never go again?

Right now, there’s no where I wouldn’t go again.  I think it is important to visit places multiple times, especially as you get older, because your experience can be so much different as your perceptions and ideas change.  Also, when you visit a place again, you don’t feel as much of a need to rush and go to the most famous things, you can really get a sense of the place.

  • Where have you lived?

For most of my life I’ve lived in California, USA. I have also lived in Kyoto, Japan and Rome, Italy.  I currently live near San Francisco, USA.

  • How can you afford to have traveled so much?

Well, I am very lucky to have two parents who believe traveling is an essential part of one’s education, so they supported my travels up until I graduated from college.  I paid for my trip to Sweden and Italy in 2008 with money from my part-time job.  All travel past college has been paid for by me, usually with funds from my full-time job.

  • Is this blog your job?

No, I work full-time on the content team at NerdWallet.  I just write this blog because I want to help others travel!

  • Have you ever worked abroad?

No, I have never worked abroad.  I tutored a young girl in English while I was living in Italy but that was on a volunteer basis.  If you want to know more about working abroad (specifically teaching English), check out this blog.

  • What should I pack?

Well that depends on where you’re going! Check out the “Pre-Trip” category for more info!

  • How often do you post?

I used to post periodically.  Now, I publish a new detailed post every week usually on Monday or Tuesday.  For snippets and quick tips, follow me on Twitter: @constanttravel1.

  • Do you write any where else?

Yes! You can find me on The Billfold, Medium, and Lifehacker.

  1. […] I have traveled a lot and thinking back, there are many times when I would’ve gladly used a Breather space to take a short rest during a day of adventuring. I can imagine how much easier it would be to simply reserve a spot for an hour or two to relax and recuperate instead of trekking all the way back to where you’re staying. If you know Breather operates in the city you’re visiting, you can even incorporate a break at one of its spaces into your sightseeing route. Extremely convenient! […]
